(ANSAmed) - NICOSIA, AUGUST 1 - Cyprus' Defence Minister Demetris Eliades announced Tuesday the successful completion of a joint aeronautical search and rescue and unconventional threats exercise, between Cypriot and French forces at the sea area south of Limassol. As he said, the exercise conducted under the coordination of the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), has followed the common exercise with the French Navy of last March and an exercise with the German Navy last April.

Eliades, as Famagusta Gazette reports, announced that other exercises with friendly countries will also follow. "In the area of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Flight Information Region (FIR) of Nicosia, the Republic of Cyprus has not only sovereign rights, but also, responsibilities and obligations under the international law. In these responsibilities, we can and we must respond efficiently and reliably, "he said.
