The assembly will analyse the situation of partnerships and joint projects by regions and cities on both sides of the Mediterranean, while a report on the territorial dimension of the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) will be discussed and adopted. The talks will also focus on new cooperation opportunities stemming from recent developments in the institutional layout of a number of Mediterranean countries involved in regionalisation processes and the devolution of powers to local bodies. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the new local governments of Tunisia and Egypt. Beyond that drafted by the co-presidents Bresso and Boudra, two further reports will be studied and adopted. The first concerns the conservation and promotion of the Mediterranean's cultural heritage (drafted by Turkey's Asim Guzelbey), while the second focusses on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Mediterranean (drafted by Morocco's Fathallah Oualalou). The reports will also be presented to the vice-secretary general of the UFM, Lino Cardarelli, who will attend the meeting.(ANSAmed).
