Stefan Fule, the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy, said the new funds are the perfect reflection of the priorities of the EU partnership with Morocco within the new neighbouring policies: a more effective public action which is accessible to Moroccan citizens and the development of Morocco's regions with the well-balanced exploitation of natural resources.
The programme will tackle the worsening condition of forests and the improvement of conditions of local populations.
The "Hakama", or governance, programme will on the other hand pursue a more effective use of public funding and boost the performance and transparency levels of the local administration as well as improve public services. Along with the 112 million euros, the European Commission has approved another 80 million euros to be allocated within the Spring programme for Morocco.(ANSAmed).
