Harrods chain of hotels in various countries including Italy,
according to Arabian Business newspaper.
Egyptian Mohammed Al Fayed, whose son Dodi died in the car crash that killed Lady Diana, bought the Harrods store in London for more than 2 billion dollars. The first Harrods Hotel will have 300 rooms and will open in the Bukit Bintang neighborhood of Kuala Lumpur, where the 635 million dollar construction deal was signed today. A Harrods Hotel will probably open in Sardinia, where Qatar has acquired four luxury hotels as part of a deal to buy Smeralda Holdings from Colony Capital, according to Arabian Business. In London, a favorite destination of Quatar investments, the Harrods Hotel will be located in a former garrison in Chelsea, which was acquired for 1 billion dollars by a consortium that includes Qatari Diar. Qatar's Foreign Minister and Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, will be in London on Thursday for the opening of Europe's tallest skyscraper, the Shard, which is also property of Qatar.
