According to Jordan society for fruits and vegetables exporters said slow movement of trucks due to limited number of exits on Syrian border meant local products reached European destination late and would not compete with better quality products.
Jordan exports seasonal agriculture products to Europe through Syria and Turkey, but the instability in the neighboring country meant Jordan had to either face delays or risk attacks in Syria or travel a very long rout through Iraqi territories before entering Turkey.
Jordan also has been hit by the loss to value of Syrian pound, which lost ground against the dollar since the anti-Assad uprising started 16 months ago.(ANSAmed).
