Egypt: Israel says terrorists want to sink peace agreements

08 August, 12:56

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, AUGUST 8 - To hit the Egyptian government hard and to plunge into rivers of blood peace agreements between Egypt and Israel: these were the two objectives that, according to Israel, the terrorists who attacked in the North Sinai a barracks of the border, killing 16 Egyptian agents had set.

This was stated in a Jerusalem radio interview with Amos Gilad, an adviser of the Israeli Minister of Defense Ehud Barak.

"They wanted to overturn the regional order," said Gilad.

"Their intention was to hit the Egyptian government hard, regardless of its identity, to break down chords peace and cause a general change in the Middle East. It is a kind of elaborate attacks of al-Qaida line of thinking or global jihad.

"Now this terrorism, according to Gilad, "threatens the whole region. If were to win, everything will collapse." It seems that - Gilas added - Egypt has reached a new awareness ... and will do everything possible to combat terrorism. This is also its responsibility."(ANSAmed).
