(ANSAmed) - NICOSIA, AUGUST 3 - Cyprus' inflation for July
2012 reached 2.2%, the second lowest inflation rate for 2012,
CNA reported quoting figures released by the Cyprus Statistical
Service. The Consumer Price Index for July 2012 declined by 1,29
units or 1.08% to 118,41 units compared to June 2012. The
decline is due to decrease in the prices of clothing and
footwear due to summer sale discounts as well as to decrease in
the prices of petroleum products and certain fresh fruit.
The rate of increase of the Index, and therefore the rate of inflation, for July 2012 increased to 2.2% compared to 1.8% in June 2012 but is lower than the rate of inflation 3.7% recorded in July 2011. For the period January-July 2012, the CPI recorded an increase of 2.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2011. (ANSAmed).
