(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, FEBRUARY 3 - More than a million companies
were active in Algeria by the end of last year, according to the
first economic survey in the coutnry since 2011.
A total of 959.718 economic companies were counted and 60.340 ''administrative entities", according to the used terminology.
The results of the census (carried out between March and December 2011) have been released on the website of the National Statistics Office.
Focusing on the specific economic sectors, a total of 97.202 industries were counted, of which 23,4% in the food sector, 22,7% in mechanics, 10,5% in clothing. Most companies, 83,5%, are situated in urban areas, the rest in rural regions.
